Rebellion, Records and Touring: Interview with Amorphis (in German)

A few weeks ago, I went to Munich to meet my Heavy Metal past. Since my musical taste has undergone quite some changes in the past 20 years, it was great to re-discover bands that I counted among my favorites when I still was a full-on metal head. I've become more enticed by sounds ranging from punkrock to indie and folk, americana and Bob Dylan. But still there's a part of me that's amazed by distortion, double-bass and growls.

So it was awesome to see both Amorphis, who put out one of my top ten records 2019 with "Queen Of Time", and Soilwork, wo struck me with their January release "Verkligheten", at the Backstage in Munich. The supporting bands Jinjer and Nailed To Obscurity were very captivating too.

I got the opportunity to speak with Tomi Joutsen, singer of the Finnish band Amorphis before they took the stage. It was printed in the southern german regional newspaper Schwäbische Zeitung that I work for. You can read it by clicking on the picture - if you speak German.

It's been a while since I wanted to post the interview, and when Soilwork put out a live video for their blazing song "Stålfågel" yesterday, I was so happy because I was blown away when they performed exactly that song at the Backstage in Munich. The energy they released was stunning and the video captures that quite well. Watch it here:
