| Comeback Kid. |
One thing you learn as you get older is that time flies. And the older you get, the faster it flies. At least that's what I feel it is like. One year ago, I moved from Germany to Canada. And while I could do without the winter that I've been told is extreme even by Winnipeg standards, I'm happy that I came here. This is a new chapter in my life and I'm grateful for the opportunity.

Getting settled in a new city means a lot of work, and as my dayjob is keeping me quite busy and I'm learning to play guitar and bass (plus there is a cat that wants lots of attention!), there is not a lot of new content on my blog. And I won't promise that there will be more, because I also like to spend time not sitting in front of the computer.
But today I can share something with you, and I'm happy about that. A week ago, I took photos at an extremely wild show at the Park Theatre. Comeback Kid and Cancer Bats were met by a gig-starved crowd that went completely nuts. I don't remember seeing a show this intense, with people dancing, headbanging, pushing each other, and lots and lots stage-diving. Not all of the stage-divers were so lucky to be held up by strong arms, and I felt as if I was sharing their pain when they hit the ground - just from looking at it. And one memory that will stick with me for the rest of my life is the soundcheck - a pretty ordinary procedure, except when it's for Cancer Bats. When they checked the sound for the bass guitar, my ears almost exploded. I've never heard such a nasty distorted bass sound.

As to the other two bands that played that night: Unfortunately, I missed out on Higherlows. But I was there in time to see Vagina Witchcraft and really enjoyed their heavy sound.
