9 years of Tinnitus Attacks, no party today, but livestreams from classy musicians

On this day in 2011, I started Tinnitus Attacks, my music blog.

I only realized that a few minutes ago - because today is not a day to party, although it's St. Patrick's Day. In former years you'd have found me in a pub, chinking pints of Guinness with friends. But these are trying times. The spread of the novel coronavirus has a worldwide impact on all of us and we don't know how long this will last.

When the first shows were being cancelled or postponed, I felt like I was talking about first world problems when I was sad about a gig that I couldn't take pics at or write about. But I am not a freelancer, I don't make money from it. There are many more others that are suffering financial loss, from the bands, the stagehands and roadies to the concert halls - and many of them were struggeling already before the Corona crisis began. Something that gives me hope is that people look out for each other. And seeing tourdates for 2021 makes me think of the time when this has passed. I'm looking forward to that and hope that we will be able to raise our glasses together then. When we don't longer have to keep our social distance and stay home. Maybe a non-alcoholic Guinness is available by then.

So for now let's just be grateful for the fact that not all gigs are cancelled. Some musicians are streaming their shows so we can enjoy them in the isolation of our homes, Frank TurnerDave Hause and Nathan Gray for example.

But my first post was dedicated to the Dropkick Murphys, and so here is a preview of their "Streaming Up From Boston" St. Patrick's Day show. Sláinte!
